La memoria dell’acqua – Roberto Ghezzi solo show

5th October – 23rd November 2024

Galleria d’arte La Fonderia presents La memoria dell’acqua, Roberto Ghezzi solo show, curated by Erica Romano.

On show Naturografie© of water and earth, works that arise from a process created by the artist which allows natural elements to deposit over time on fabrics made of eco-sustainable materials.Largely unpublished and created for this florentine solo show, Roberto Ghezzi’s canvases embody a slow creative process, which is based on an education in patience and respect for the natural material with which it interfaces. By interacting with the landscape, the artist seems to be urging nature to express itself, its history, its impulses.Man for his own nature is the result of what surrounds him: conversations and relationships with other human beings, animals or plants, change the soul to the point of self-definition. We are not so different from Ghezzi’s canvases, we absorb what we have around us and what we come into contact with, we react with what we already are with something that exists outside of us. The memory of what we were and what we have become. Water, especially, carries a memory made up not only of its composition but also of what it has collected and brought with it during its changing nature. In the works exhibited inside the Gallery, the waters and lands themselves are told, they tell us their story and we immerse ourselves in those captured atmospheres.A four-handed collaboration, but also a request for permission, where human technique merges with the energy of the environment. From oil painting, Roberto Ghezzi immersed himself totally in the landscapes he previously represented, becoming one with them, involving phases of study and scientific research, through travel diaries and projects, residencies and exhibitions. A twenty-year journey that has led him to work all over the world, as demonstrated by the Thybris diptych on show, the result of research work carried out specifically for the solo exhibition at the GNAM in Rome in 2023.

The exhibition will be open until November 23rd from Tuesday to Saturday 10 am-1 pm and 3.30 pm-7.30 pm
